Set amongst lush, tropical hillside gardens, full of hibiscus, palm trees and manicured lawns, and only 20 minutes from the ferry wharf, the Siufaga Beach Resort is a small friendly property on the scenic island of Savaii. Located in the traditional Samoan village of Suifaga, you get the experience of real Samoa in the village life.
Accommodation is offered in 13 spacious detached bungalows with a king bed in a raised bedroom area, ensuite bathroom with private outdoor tropical shower, sitting area with double-size day bed, air conditioning, refrigerator, mini-bar, iron and ironing board, TV with cable channels, daily replenished tea and coffee making facilities, daily maid service and a shaded terrace with tropical garden or beach views.
The Resort offers a complimentary tropical breakfast in the restaurant every morning, which also offers lunch and dinner menus, with selections of Italian, Polynesian and seafood dishes, all with a seaview.
There is a a small bar to enjoy a cocktail whilst watching the sunset, and if you fancy a cool drink when enjoying the freshwater pool, there is a pool bar to provide that for you.
The Resort is just the other side of a minor road from the white sand beach, where you can swim, snorkel around the jetty and relax on the sand. They offer a selection of activities most days, including Samoan cooking, village walks and kayaking, as well as offering full day guided tours in association with Safua Tours, led by a retired Australian geologist, which are relaxed and educational, focusing on Samoa's natural history, culture, archaeology and geology.
Close by there is a general store, about 1 km away, providing tinned and frozen food, snacks, toiletries, general supplies and drinks, and the staff would be glad to assist with transportation, if required. The nearby town of Salelologa offers a further choice of restaurants, bars and shopping and Reception can arrange a taxi to collect you within 10-15 minutes. Taxi would cost approx £7-10* each way, or you can hire a car in Salelogo. Once you have registered your UK license with the Ministry of Transport office there, they will give you a temporary Samoan License for less than £5*. Having a car is a great way to see the rest of the island of Savaii, when you don't fancy sitting on the beach or snorkeling the clear turquoise waters of the lagoon. If you don't fancy a car, the local bus service runs daily from the Resort to the market in Salelologa and would cost approximately £1* each way, just check with the driver when he is going back to the Resort!
Overall, the Siufaga Beach Resort represents good value in respectable, spacious accommodation and is well located to experience all that Savaii has to offer.
*Costs are estimated at exchange rates correct as of 28th February 2011.
