The Qamea Beach Resort & Spa is a small all-inclusive Resort, catering for only 24 priveleged guests and is situated on the beach on the south west corner of the island of Qamea, one of Taveuni's outer islands, just a short 60 minute flight from Nadi.
The Resort is set in 43 acres of landscaped tropical gardens which lead to its own private white sand beach. The accommodation is offered in 11 Beachfront Bures, 2 Honeymoon Bures, 1 Honeymoon Villa, 2 Royal Beach Houses and 1 two bedroom Royal Beach House. Accommodations were refurbished in 2008 with new furniture and soft furnishings.
All the bures and villas are constructed to a traditional Fijiian design with thatched roofs and use lots of local woods and bamboo, high 20ft ceilings, polished timber floor and oversized bamboo furniture.
The Beachfront Bures offer a sleeping area with a King size bed, a lounge area, private bathroom with double vanities, romantic river stone outdoor shower, complimentary toiletries and hairdryer, fully stocked minibar, tea/coffee making facilities, air conditioning and a ceiling fan for ventilation and a covered veranda with lounge chairs and hammock.
The Honeymoon Bures are one of the best to be found anywhere in Fiji and have probably the best views in the Resort. It offers a large bamboo kingsize 4-poster bed, with side tables, a large wardrobe, vanity unit and lounge chair. The lounge has two sofas, a bamboo suite, minibar, and tea/coffee making facilities, both areas are ventilated by air conditioning and ceiling fans. The bathroom has a large sunken shower as well as twin wash basins, complimentary toiletries, hairdryer and an outdoor shower for two. The spacious deck area faces the stunning beach and ocean and has lounge chairs, a hammock and a covered daybed.
The Honeymoon Villa is a raised split-level villa and is fully screened. The upper level is the separate bedroom with kingsize 4-poster bed, bedside tables, wardrobe and ensuite bathroom with complimentary toiletries, double sinks, indoor and outdoor showers and jacuzzi spa bath. 2 steps take you down to the living area, with 2 sofas, chairs, sideboard with minibar and tea and coffee making facilities and writing desk and chair. Both rooms have sliding doors that open onto the large covered verandah with lounge chairs and hammock.
The 1- and 2-bedroom Royal Beach Houses offer extra space and luxurious accommodation and are located at the far end of the Resort beach, to provide a secluded and private stay. They offer ensuite bathrooms with double sinks, indoor and outdoor showers, complimentary toiletries and hairdryer, kingsize 4-poster beds, comfortable living area with sofas and chairs, 42" flat screen TV with satelite channels, stereo with i-Pod docking station and an expansive deck area with private pool, lounge furniture and lovely views to the beach and the ocean, where your nightly hor d'oeuvres and cocktail is served at sunset!
The main bure, which accommodates the restaurant and bar areas, is built to the design of a village chief's bure with a 33-foot high ceiling. The Resort's chef prepares dishes from around the world with a Pacific Rim style, which are supplemented by a very extensive wine list. The mostly organic menu offers a varied selection of fresh fish, caught around the island, fresh fruit and vegetables, some grown in the gardens, and fresh meat and poultry flown in 3 times a week from New Zealand and Australia. Every afternoon, you can also enjoy homemade cakes and pastries with afternoon tea and snacks are also available if you're feeling peckish between meals.
The island of Qamea has been voted as one of the top ten snorkelling reefs to be found in the Pacific Ocean. The scuba diving is also of a very high rating, with over 20 dive sites to be found within a short boat ride of the resort. In addition to these activities, there are a number of island tours to let you explore the beautiful island, traditional meke (song and dance) and kava ceremonies to enjoy, and the Resort offers the free use of sail boards, hobie cats and outrigger canoes, has its own freshwater swimming pool and has a relaxing Spa offering many treatments and therapies.
The Resort has been designed to provide an exclusive, quiet and relaxing atmosphere in a beautiful island setting. To that end, children under the age of 13 are not permitted. When taking into account the location, way off the beaten track, not simple to get to, and with there being very little to do other than relax and swim, it is not a resort we would recommend for families anyway. We would however, definitely recommend it to lovers of all ages!
NEW SPECIAL OFFER
For all guest staying in the period 1st April 2012 to 31 March 2013 the resort will be offering Free selected wines and draft beer.

Fiji has one of the best air service connections of any of the islands in the Pacific.
Air Pacific, Fiji's national carrier, provides a daily service to Sydney and Auckland and up to six times a week to Los Angeles, with frequent flights to Brisbane and Melbourne. Air Pacific also provides regular services to the neighbouring island nations of Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Kiribati and the Solomon Islands. Further afield it operates twice weekly flights to Hong Kong.
Korean Air operate three flights a week between Seoul and Nadi. On the southbound flights from Seoul a direct connection can be made off Korean Air's daily London-Seoul flight. However, on the return flight, a night stop will be required in Seoul, as the flight timings do not permit a same day connection.
Air New Zealand operates daily to/from Auckland with connections to its double-daily flights to London, either via Los Angeles or Hong Kong. Air New Zealand also operates a codeshare arrangement with Air Pacific providing seats on their non-stop Nadi-Los Angeles flights.
Virgin Blue operate a regular service from/to Sydney, with connections to many other Australian cities.
Air Cali operate twice a week between Noumea and Nadi. Currently Air New Guinea operate a twice a week service from and to Port Moresby via Honiara.
Pacific Sun, Air Pacific's domestic airline subsidiary, operates an extensive domestic flight network covering all the countries main islands, with at least a daily service. The main northern islands receive at least two flights a day and some times more, the less populated islands get a restricted service, so sometimes a night stop in Nadi or Suva may be required when connecting between some of the less popular islands.
A number of the outer Island Resorts operate their own dedicated daily flights, to transfer their clients from Nadi to the resort and back, using either fixed wing commuter aircraft, seaplanes or helicopters. Further details of these will be given at the time we provide our quotation.
