Blue Lagoon Cruises

Imagine waking every morning surrounded by sparkling blue oceans, islands fringed with gently waving palms and empty, unspoilt beaches of pure white sand. Welcome to boutique cruising in the idyllic South Seas.

Relax into an easy rhythm on board your modern, luxury vessel, soak up the sun, collect seashells on a deserted beach, swim or snorkel in the pristine waters or join a trip to a remote Fijian village and experience true South Seas hospitality. The choice is yours on a Blue Lagoon Fiji Cruise!  With over 50 years of experience cruising the islands of Fiji, and a choice of three boutique cruise vessels, Blue Lagoon will give you an unforgettable South Seas cruising experience.

Blue Lagoon Cruises, one of the outstanding success stories in Fijian tourism, was originally established in the 1950's, by Captain Trevor Withers, a New Zealand lawyer, and named after the famous 'Blue Lagoon' film starring Jean Simmonds and Lloyd Bridges, which was filmed in the Yasawa Islands.  The Company had a critical role in the remake of the movie starring Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins, as they literally transported and accommodated the production company during the filming, often assisting in the choice of locations using their vast, collective experience of the Yasawa Islands.

A Blue Lagoon Cruise will be a very carefree and relaxing experience, where you can experience the stunning beauty and pristine waters of Fiji's many islands.  Located 40km north-west from Nadi, the Yasawa Islands are renowned for their tranquil lagoons and picturesque beaches. The multitude of different islands offer a daily changing vista, with a range of coral cays, lagoons, turquoise seas, pure white beaches and spectacular bays as your cruise ship stops at a different one each day. The islands stretch for almost 90 km and their remoteness, about 4 hours sailing from the mainland, ensures they retain their tranquility and traditional charm, and where local villages are almost exactly the way they have been for hundreds of years

A cruise with Blue Lagoon will take you deep into the turquoise Pacific South Seas, sailing to unspoilt tropical islands and sheltered lagoons, where you can watch as the waves break over distant reefs and the sun sinks softly beyond the horizon. You can swim, dive or snorkel in the clear blue waters, travel ashore and be accepted as an honoured guest into the ancient Fijian culture, visit traditional villages and markets, share in the Yaqona Ceremony, sample an island feast set on a breathtakingly beautiful beach or simply laze the days away doing nothing at all.

A variety of itineraries allow island explorations, beach activities, visits to remote Fijian villages and swimming and snorkelling in some of the most pristine waters in the South Pacific.  Included in every cruise is a visit to their own privately-owned island, Nanuya Lailai, with deserted, pristine beaches, lush tropical forests and swaying palm trees.  Here you enjoy a beach barbecue lunch, laze away the afternoon swimming snorkeling, windsurfing, bushwalking or just relaxing on the soft sand, then partake in a traditional island 'Majiti' feast in the evening followed by an after dinner beach party. A true tropical island paradise!

Each cruise is fully inclusive, with all your meals included in the cruise cost.  Most drinks are available for purchase though some meals or light snacks may include some complimentary drinks, such as the champagne and hors d'oeurves served on your first night at sunset! The on-board, award-winning chefs create varied menus using fresh local produce and seafood.  Laid back breakfasts, beach barbecue lunches, Fijiian style buffets and traditional 'Lovo' Feasts, dining on a Blue Lagoon cruise caters for all palates and is an experience in itself.  The wine list available is also extensive, with many top vintages from Australia and New Zealand.

7-Day/6-Night Cruise Itinerary

  1. Day 1.  Set sail heading northwest, to glide past the Mamanuca Islands, before swinging north towards Yasawa.  Settle into your cabin and explore the ship before enjoying a glass of champagne and hors d'oeuvres, served on the upper deck at sunset as you enter the southern end of the Yasawa Islands. Later, the delicious Captain's Welcome Dinner, created by the on-board master chef, is served in the Dining Salon, followed by Fijiian songs and dances performed by the crew.
  2. Day 2.  When you wake, the ship is anchored in a secluded lagoon, where you can take an early swim before a leisurely breakfast, while the ship cruises to a deserted island.  Enjoy swimming, snorkeling or a tropical bushwalk from a cast away-style beach, where a laid back tropical barbecue lunch is served.  After lunch, the ship sails on to the next idylic island, where you can watch the locals basket weaving, relax on the beach or hit the crystal blue water again.  After sunset cocktails, enjoy a themed fun party dinner full of East Indian Delights!
  3. Day 3. The first stop this morning is another idylic island paradise, to swim, snorkel and view the fantastic coral reefs, or just relax on the beach.  Lunch is served on board as you cruise further north to a traditional Fijiian village, where the village Chief invites you, as an honoured guest, to take part in the ancient Yaqona (Kava) ceremony of welcome, while the villagers entertain you with traditional songs and dances.  Spend a few hours exploring the shell market for souvenirs and local crafts, or with  a swim, before returning to the ship for drinks and a delicious dinner aboard.
  4. Day 4.  The ship reaches the northernmost Yasawa Islands, which are untouched, mostly uninhabited and pristine.  The snorkeling over the coral gardens is stunning, and the beaches are soft, white and deserted, and you almost expect Robinson Crusoe to appear from behind a swaying palm tree! Lunch is served on board as you cruise to yet another beach paradise, followed by a lazy afternoon doing whatever you choose.  Try a relaxing Fijiian massage, swim or just chill on the beach.  Dinner is a magnificent South Pacific carvery buffet on the beach, where the tastes and flavours of Pacific Rim cuisine are combined in a culinary display to rival many restaurants! Party on the beach til bedtime.
  5. Day 5.   The morning is spent visiting a local district school, where you can experience a traditional Fijiian classroom.  Gifts of school supplies, stationary, sweets and sports equipment are especially welcomed if you wish to bring some with you to give to the children.   Lunch is back on board while the ship sets course for yet another immaculate white sand and palm tree-edged beach, where you can walk the pure white sand, swim or snorkel the afternoon away.  Dinner is served onboard followed by music and dancing.
  6. Day 6. Today the ship is anchored at their private island paradise, Nanuya Lailai, where you will have the whole day to enjoy the activites here, including glass-bottomed boat tours, to view the magical fish and coral reef, snorkeling, scuba dive (if pre-booked), kayaking, fishing, bush and beach walks, or simply relax in the shade of the palm trees.  Dinner is a traditional Island Feast Night, with a traditional 'magiti' feast, cooked in a 'lovo' or earth oven, followed by cocktails and a beach party to celebrate your last night in paradise.
  7. Day 7.  There's time for an early morning swim before anchors aweigh, and while breakfast is served, you start your slow cruise back to reality.  As the crew sing farewell, you arrive back in Lautoka.

7-Day/6-Night Historical & Cultural Cruise

With only three scheduled cruises for 2011, this unique itinerary takes passengers on an incredible journey through the rich history and diverse cultures of the Fijiian Islands. The 7-Day Historical and Cultural cruise ventures off the beaten track, to visiti the international dateline and the northeast tip of the Fiji Islands. Experience three different South Pacific cultures; Melanesian, Micronesian and Polynesian, while exploring remote island locations, some never visited by commercial vessels before. Resident experts travel with this special cruise to provide you with a truly unique perspective on the history of the Polynesian Fijians (Kioa Islanders), the Micronesian Fijians (Rabi Islanders) and the Melanesian Fijians and the now local Indian community.

The cruise will include talks and lectures from the resident experts, visits to churches, missions, craft markets and local villages and schools.  Although this tour visits different islands and sights than the other 7-Day cruise, you will still enjoy the delicious breakfasts, barbecue lunches and Pacific buffets, some onboard and some ashore.
